FOR ANYONE WANTING TO EVER GET PAID FOR AN EVENT

Recently I received a text from a potential client. They wanted to hire me for a Saturday and Sunday. We texted back and forth about client wishes and pricing. Victor the Client claimed to live in Chapel Hill and was out of town currently and would only arrive home a day before the Event. Victor did not want to listen to the services I offer. So I had Victors phone number. However, I do not push a client by calling them. Further, there was something that did not feel right. The client was not clear on what he wanted and would not put effort into listening to what I offered. So, the client picked the deluxe package. Great, but he still didn't listen to what I was offering. At that point, I told the client to call me. In the process of trying to explain my service to him, he interrupted and said he needed a “favor”. His “event coordinator” did not accept credit cards and he needed to get her paid before he got back into town before the event. Soooo....he wanted to pay me enough money to cover my fees and the Event Coordinator's and then me pay the coordinator. Ok, so if your thinking ok, what's the problem? Well, the client had broken english which gave me the opportunity to ask the client to email me with his request since I couldn't understand him on the phone. This gave me the opportunity to verify my suspicions. Even when I told the client repeatedly that I could get his coordinator to a sight that gave them free credit card service for the first $2000 and done over night (fictitious), the client still ignored this and again requested the same thing. Did not hear back from client after I firmly told him that I can not do his “favor”.

Unfortunately scams like this exist all over. People taking advantage of societies good natured. I tell you this story to give example of what to watch out for. Whether people realize it or not, I do this a lot in my classes.
